Street Defense Seminars
Once a month, Berdugo Martial Arts Center opens its doors to non-students for a Street Defense Seminar. Grandmaster Michael Bowers (9th Dan) instructs current students and non-students alike in the art of street defense. In these seminars, participants will be introduced to a variety of street defense strategies and principals that prove helpful in the various types of physical conflicts that can happen on the street (i.e. hand to hand, hand to weapon, hand to knife, weapon to weapon, etc). Additionally, students will learn various techniques in conflict avoidance. Sometimes the best response to conflict on the street is to avoid physical conflict altogether. The seminar provides the tools needed to both avoid and escape dangerous situations. Participants will take away useful knowledge and techniques that could one day save their life.

What To Bring
Be sure to come dressed in comfortable, loose fitting athletic attire. You will get a workout. Loose fitting clothing (i.e. t-shirt, basketball shorts, workout pants, etc) help when it comes to holds and releases. No one wants to do a lapel grab on your sports bra or tight tank top. Clean socks are required. No bare feet or shoes allowed. Once again: NO BARE FEET OR SHOES! Your training partners appreciate the clean socks when you do a takedown and they're face down on the floor, where your feet have been. If weapons are used, we will loan them to you for the seminar.
The minimum age for this seminar is 16, however all minors must have their parents sign a waver. Please contact us about getting the form. You will not be participating if you don't have the form.
